You can hear the unique song announcing its approach like The Entertainer does the ice cream truck.  Except unlike the ice cream truck people don’t run towards this music…they run away!

Due to the intense summer heat and the lack of rainfall in certain parts of Xinjiang, these water trucks are deployed to keep the region’s streets cooled off and crack-free.  For other drivers or pedestrians nearby, though, they are little more than an annoying part of life.

Watch closely as some cars swerve to miss the plume of water spewing from the back of this truck while others embrace it as a free car wash.  Pay special attention to the blue taxi at the :09-:10 mark…the back window is open and the passenger got soaked!  I know because I’ve had this happen to me before.  My wife and I were dying laughing while the driver was cursing the truck for getting the inside of his car wet!

You should have seen me frantically try to avoid this truck while on my motorcycle once.  It’s a shame nobody has a video of that.
