I'm sure they can be eaten as a meal, but more often than not they are in addition to a meal (kind of like kebabs...you can eat them by themselves but it's usually along side many other dishes). I'm glad you enjoyed them - they are definitely tasty!! Ha! There was one place by my hostel that served just these, so I think they can be eaten as a meal unto themselves?
