Chinese Hospital

Hey everybody! We have no big news this week, but still just wanted to let you all know we’re alive. Barely. Ha! Something we ate during our trip to Ghost City didn’t set well with either of us and our bodies have been punishing it for us ever since. Tiff’s body has given her the most beatings – we actually took her to the hospital for a checkup. Here’s the entire conversation we had at this hospital, literally the best in our city (through a translator, of course):

Doctor: “What’s the problem?”
Tiff: “My stomach has been feeling horrible for the last few days and won’t stop. My symptoms are…and…and…and although I’ve drunk plenty of water and slept a lot the past few days, nothing is getting better.”
Doctor: “Hmm…” (looks curiously at Tiff’s stomach, then to our astonishment forms his hand into a flat sword actually jabs her in the stomach quickly) “…it hurts here?”
Tiff: (recovering from being struck) “Uhh…yea, unless my stomach decided to trade places with my kidney…wait, aren’t you the doctor here? Don’t you know where the stomach is?” (This last part isn’t translated)
Doctor: “Ok, I’m going to write you a prescription and you need to take these pills three times a day before meals.” (writes out a prescription)
Tiff: “So you know what’s making me sick? What is this medicine even supposed to do? Are you a real doctor?”
Doctor: “Fill your prescription on the 1st floor…next!”

Anybody understand yet why we will refuse to start a family in China? We actually paid good money for this expert analysis of Tiff’s situation. Heck, I could have jabbed her in the stomach and asked if it hurt. Ridiculous.

Anyway, we’re both feeling better, thankfully. Classes are going well and are coming to a close quickly. I actually sat in on one of Tiff’s classes last week and decided that I would film some of it since I doubt many of you really know how we conduct our class. It’s really quite fun! Here is a glimpse of Tiff’s Pre-K class – an age at which they are to excited to stay seated in those cute half-sized chairs. In this video Tiff is reviewing the alphabet they have been learning all year on big cards that she made herself. The room is a bit small, but like most all the rooms it has a piano, TV, and computer. You’ll see Tiff’s teaching partner standing in the back, ready to handle any kid who gets out of order. Enjoy.

Oh yes, Happy Mother’s Day to our moms and to all the mothers out there who are reading this – including many of you who might still be pregnant. We look forward to hopefully seeing many of you with your new children this summer!
